Bree

Since our return from Vegas Breena has been a difficult child.  We expected some poor behavior from them due to changing their routine but neither of us thought Breena would act so naughty!  She has been yelling at us & hitting her brother.  Just not herself.  I suspect her top molars are giving her trouble- we noticed them popping thru two weeks ago and they are STILL not fully thru.  Don't get me wrong- dealing with poor behavior was still worth a trip away.  But it is frustrating that I cannot predict her attitude.  She can be so mean & nasty and in the next breath she is says something so funny I fall over laughing.

That's exactly what happened today before nap when she went potty.

WARNING: May Be TMI For Some!!!

Since Breena started potty training she likes to look at her poop.  She analyzes it.  Tells me it's size & color.  And says goodbye to it as it flushes down the toilet.  Today she turned around after doing her business to look at her poo.  She said, " Oh!  That's a tiny poopy!  He must be looking for his mama!".

Oh child you drove me crazy today.  But you always manage to make me smile.

If We Could Visit Heaven...

We took the kids to the cemetery to lay flowers on their Great Grandpa's grave in honor of Memorial Day.  On the way there I tried to explain to Breena that Great Grandpa is still in heaven, but we are going to place flowers on a special sign made just for him.  I don't feel she is old enough to comprehend what a cemetery is really all about.  She thought about the flowers for a while.  And then said to us, "I am going to pet Maggie when we get there!".  Dave & I started at each other, stunned at what to say to her.  Cautiously I explained that we can't visit Heaven and it will be a very long time before she gets to go there.  So for now we will just visit this special place for Great Grandpa.  She accepted that answer and happily placed her red carnation on his grave marker when we arrived.  I truly wish Heaven was reach like it is in her simple, innocent mind.  It sure would be nice to give Grandpa one more hug or pet Maggie one more time...

Memorial Weekend

Let us honor & remember those who have sacrificed greatly on behalf of our freedom.

Thank you for your service.

Our Beginning

Nine years ago on a marching band trip a bus driver lost the keys to his bus. It was a hot & humid day and I was thrilled to have my own seat on the school bus with no air conditioning. Because of this irresponsible bus driver, I was forced to sit with a friend so the passengers of the useless bus could have a ride home. Little did I know it would be the best decision I would ever make. A shaved headed skinny boy took my original seat. He was the drum major of our marching band. I had never had a conversation with him. I assumed he was arrogant because of his position in the band (little did I know he was the most SELFLESS person I will ever meet). He listened to his headphones most of the ride home. As a future hair stylist at some point during our drive home I became curious what the top of his shaved head felt like. From the looks of it- I had guessed it felt like my grandma’s old pillows. You know, the kind that were spiky going one direction & smooth going the other. I decided I needed my question answered so I touched his hair. He turned to look at me quickly- he looked a little startled that a stranger would grope his hair. I explained about my grandma’s pillows and he for sure thought I was a little crazy. I had no idea the simple crush I was developing on this boy would turn into something spectacular. By the time we made it back to our hometown I was smitten with him. This boy would soon turn into my boyfriend and then my very best friend. On February 27, 2006 he made me the luckiest girl alive when he got down on one knee and asked me to become his wife.

It’s been nearly nine years since we began our journey together. In June we will be celebrating our four year anniversary. It’s hard to believe our adventures began all because a bus driver lost his keys…
