Snow Day

It is too cold to play outside today.  So we brought the snow in!  Someone really enjoyed snacking on it, can you guess who?

Maggie

Today our family dog Maggie will be put to sleep. She is 14 years old. Her body is tired and weak- it is time to let her go. My siblings & I grew up with Maggie. She is more like another sibling to us than a dog. She was a true friend and confidant in every way possible. Maggie slept with me until I moved out. She slept by my bedside the night before I got married. When Dave & I lost our first baby I found comfort in spending time with Maggie. She understood my feelings without ever being told. Maggie was present when I most needed a friend. As we got older we saw less of Maggie. But when we would visit home we were always greeted with the same happy tail wag. Maggie will leave behind a large void in our family. It is with an extremely heavy heart that today we say goodbye.

Playroom!

As many of you know, last month Dave & I gave up our master bedroom so that the kids had a larger area to play.  We moved into Eli's room (SMALLEST room in the house) and now the kids share a "sleeping" room.  Here is their freshly redecorated playroom!

Hello!

Well hello there.  It's been a while since I have been able to write due to a bad computor battery- problem is fixed (hopefully) now!  We have had a busy start to the new year.  We recently decided to redecorate the playroom- it is SO cute!  When Dave finishes up some last minute details I will post pictures.  I participated in my first Bridal Show!  It was a long day but I have already booked a wedding party so it was worth it! My mom retired from her job after 31 years!  We attended two parties in her honor this past weekend.  And to top it off Dave & the kids suffered with the stomach flu for the better part of last week.  It seems like everyone is feeling better and we are looking forward to a more mellow week.  Thank you for checking in on our blog even though it's been a while since I have put up a new post!  We hope your new years has started off great as well!!!

My little girl woke up in tears after nap because she desperately wanted to go swimming.  So we improvised & played "pool" at 3pm!

Goodbye 2010!

2010 was a fun year for the Luiken family!  We enjoyed a fun trip up north, listening to Breena learn to talk & sing, a job change, and an addition of a little neice!  We were so blessed this year when our family went from a family of 3

To a family of 4 when Eli came into the world!

We are looking forward to 2011 & are so excited to see what adventures, discoveries & surprises the next year will hold!  Many blessings to you this New Year!
